AGÈNCIA DE QUALITAT I AVALUACIÓ SANITÀRIES DE CATALUNYA
The Agència de Qualitat i Avaluació Sanitàries de Catalunya (Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia), AQuAS, is a public entity of the Catalan Ministry of Health with more than 25 years of history. Its mission is to generate scientific and relevant knowledge to contribute to the improvement of the quality, safety and sustainability of the healthcare system, with the main goal of supporting the decision making process of the citizens, professionals, researchers, managers and policy makers.
To achieve its aims, AQuAS is committed to conduct four functions:
• Data analytics and assessment. AQuAS combines different methodologies in its assessments including scientific evidence review and data analytics, with a special focus on the Real World Data (RWD) exploitation, thanks to the granted access to all registries and electronic health record of the Catalan healthcare system.
• Promoting the transparency in the healthcare and health research system to facilitate policy makers taking decisions and benchmarking, as well as to contribute in improving transparency and accountability of the performance and results of the health care and research systems.
• Foresee to anticipate the upcoming system challenges by exploring methods, instruments and approaches that might enable the decision makers to address current and future system issues.
• Involving people and other stakeholders in generating knowledge. By incorporating and engaging stakeholders in the processes, AQuAS aims to maximise the impact of its results and capture those aspects of the system performance that otherwise might remain unknown or unaddressed.
