DELFT UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is one of three technical universities in the Netherlands, renowned for the high quality of its research and teaching. With over 25,000 students and some 3,000 FTE scientists (from which ca. 250 full professors), it is an establishment of national importance and of significant international standing. TU Delft views its role in society as supplying technological solutions that take us significantly further along the road towards sustainability and a flourishing economy. The University collaborates on a structural basis with other international education and research institutes and has partnerships with governments, branch organisations, numerous consultancies, industry partners and companies from the small and medium business sectors. The team involved in PERISCOPE is from the Knowledge and Intelligence Design group at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE). IDE is a well-established Design School, one of the largest in the world. It was founded in 1969 and currently has about 200 staff members, 140 PhD students, and a student body of more than 2,000 students. 'Designing for our future' is the core business of students and researchers at the faculty of IDE. We design and improve products and services that deal with society’s major challenges. We do this by using our combined design abilities and knowledge together with our conceptualisation and concretisation skills at local and system level. IDE focuses on research that integrates People, Business and Technology, and provides excellent facilities for reaching this integration by having a large number of labs that allows for collaboration with external partners.
